The Patapedia is divided into 3 sectors. Sector 2 has 38 pools in total. A scenic offer adapted to the decor is offered in area 2: The Descent. Consists of a three-day canoe trip with overnight stay in a log cabin and fishing with griles only.
It is possible to wade there although one almost always uses a canoe facilitating the movement of a pool to another. The canoe is not included in your fishing trip. But, the rental is possible with reservation.
Where
Located on the plateaus of the valley about 68 km west of the municipality of Matapédia by the forest, the Patapédia River is a dream for all lovers of salmon fishing. Powered by Lakes Superior and Hunter, it travels the mountains for 70 km and will jump into the very famous reservoir of the Restigouche River, One Million Dollar Pool recognized for the incredible number of salmon it contains. The Patapedia, whose lower part marks the border between Quebec and New Brunswick, is located in the middle of the forest which offers a tranquility out of the ordinary. With its cold and clear water, this river provides an exceptional habitat to Salmo salar. And what about the trip to get there: landscapes breathtaking!
Description of the trip
1st night: at the Pavillon (the day before the trip) (register # 158056)
Toilet, shower, lighting, wood heating, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and non potable water.
2e and 3e night: 19 and 14 mille Camp
Outdoor toilet, propane stove (2 rounds), wood stove, propane lighting and 2 bunk beds with foam matresses.
You must bring your sleeping bags, dishes, cauldrons and food. If you rent a canoe, to ensure a good service to our customers, we equip our canoes with it: 2 life jakets, 2 oars, 2 poles 1 anchor with rope and 1 bench*.
You must bring back your waste during your descent and when you leave the 7 mile, then give them to the guardian when you arrive.
*However, if during your excursion, you happen to damage or lose some of this equipment, you will be in the obligation to pay for the replacement of this piece.
The run is usually done at the beginning of June and it is also at this time that the fishing begins, which extends over a period of three months. This is at its peak between the last week of June and the second week of August.
