Special Fundraising Campaign - Causapscal River Retention Barrier

Share

The Richard Adams Foundation, whose mission is to protect, educate and develop salmon resources, is soliciting you as part of this special fundraising campaign. Your donation to this special campaign will be used directly in the above project.

Phase 1 of stabilizing the bank upstream of the barrier and reducing the water force of the current was carried out last September. CN acted as the primary financial partner through voluntary compensation. The costs of Phase 1 amounting to more than one hundred thousand dollars.

Failure to complete the Phase 2 work could, in the short term, compromise the ability to maintain the operation of a containment barrier there. The success of this installation is no longer the same as the restoration of the Causapscal River in the past, which led to its reopening to fishing in 1994. Since then, several hundred salmon, most of them called big salmon, have been accessing the river each year, the delight of users of this beautiful river with cliffs, enchanting scenery and meandering. The abundance of the resource depends on the effectiveness of the actions.
